How drooz studio was born? It was the answer to a decorating dilemma! The perfect alternative to a traditional wall mural. In 1998 when my husband and I were waiting the arrival or our first baby we were inspired to create a magical mural for the nursery. However, living in Chicago’s hip Wicker Park, we found ourselves unable to paint the nursery walls our rented flat. Instead, we chose a large canvas, painted a whimsical design and hung in our daughter’s room – this was the first of many inspired ideas! The original "drooz studio" painting has traveled with our family thru many moves and now hangs in our current home... after almost 10 years it is still a treasured favorite! The Original handpainted wallhanging... Drooz studio is proud to claim that WE created the " original hand-painted wallhanging for children". In 1998 there was very little (if any) handpainted wall art for children offered to decorate a nursery. We looked and looked... but could find nothing like our large scale original art or "movable murals" We filled a need for a new product idea and unusual designs – and we are so proud to say our customers have faithfully followed us. What is "Drooz"? Drooz is a word that my daughter used as a toddler. She would use her "word" to describe her finger paints, play-dough, crayons, a plain piece of paper or newly finished masterpiece! "Drooz" was her word for creation & color, expression & enchantment ... the perfect word for what we love at drooz studio! The studio.... After years of painting on dining room tables and cold basement floors... in 2004 drooz moved into a wonderful new studio (well, kinda new)! Our 1830’s farmhouse is nestled into the rolling hills of Central New York’s gorgeous Finger Lakes area. The quaint country-pink studio has recently undergone a complete renovation and now looks as good as new to house our offices, studio space, gallery and our growing staff of talented artists. We continue to dream and doodle... Our sketch books are filling up fast with wonderful new ideas and designs we can’t wait to share with you! Get inspired by drooz!
